How to skim a long wall and ceiling?

Hello
I am wanting to skim a long wall and ceiling.
I presume the experienced plasterers are able to do this in one hit, but is it possible to section the wall\ceiling to make it easier to skim using straight beading?
How would you section a 30ft wall, bead every 4ft?
Final question, if the straight beading is used, then would you end up with the top of the beading showing along your wall every 4ft?
