Getting rid of powdery residue on the walls after plastering

could you please help? i have had my walls replasterd,about eight weeks
although they are now,dry, there is still a residue,of a powdery film.on them. what is my next move so i can ,emulsion or paint them.

Hello,

There shouldnt be any powdery residue on the walls... You only get this when the plasterer has had problems when finishing it and is using the fat of the plaster to fill in the hollows ect... not the best thing to do.

What I would I do is lightly brush the wall down and get rid of the lose powder then I would give it a miss coat so you can see all the hollows and misses then get some easyfill and fill these in.

I am not a painter but this is the route I would take.
