salt rock and lime plaster

hello again,
as previously mentioned i have just brought an old house in spain. the problem is that salt from rock (that all the houses are built on) pushes off patches of plaster and paint. i am considering using lime plaster, but will this suffer from the same fate?
no one hear has heard of lime plaster and i think i will have to import it, so obviusly i dont want to spend the extra money for no good purpose.
can anyone advise me on this?
