Hi all, I plasterboarded my kitchen ceiling last October. Due to circumstances I have been unable to skim it up till now. Would the plasterboard have been up too long to skim straight onto ?. I have some Blue grit left over from the walls, could I use this on the plasterboard to give me more time to work with the multifinish ?.

Hi onedrip
I find if you skim plasterboard that has dried out there can be issues with adhesion because the plasterboard sucks the water out of the plaster before it has set. You can either spray the boards with water, respray areas that lighten immediately, leave for a while then skim. Or you can coat the boards with waterproof pva or your blue grit. The latter two will stop the background suction so makes timing more critical.

Many thanks for the reply. I think I will use the Blue grit. I guess it will give me a bit more time to work the plaster.
