Repairs to Platerboard

I used the proper fixings for plasterboard, one of them was loose & has created a big circular hole (size of a 5pence piece)! I still need to put the fixing in the same place (once it is repaired)! Is this still possible? What is the best way to repair it? Get a professional or DIY? :(

HI dmorphett,
A few ways around this one, yes you can fill it and place fixing while filler still wet. Depends on filler and what's going to carry how successfull this method is. I always found wood filler best. You could also consider making hole bigger putting a noggin in to wall and screwing that up, then plaster patch and use the wood to fix to. As far pro or DIY job again depends how good at it you are, but not that difficult.
