filling gaps between wall and ceiling?

Hello all

I'm new to DiY and have chosen as my first job to replace the lath and plaster ceiling in my bedroom.

I've knocked it down and have insulated the ceiling and put up new plasterboard.

The problem I have now is to fill the gaps between the wall and the ceiling - It's a hundred year old cottage (terrace) and due to thickness of the old lath and plaster ceiling there's quite a large gap between the ceiling and the top of the walls (between 1" and 1.5")

What is the best way to fill this so that the plasterer can get a smooth finish and neat join?

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi DIWhy, it's a case of plaster patching, if you having someone to skim the ceiling ask them to do around the edges, it's not a difficult job. may make live easier for them!
If your wanting to do it yourself buy some one coat plaster and use that as instructed on bag.
Best Luck
