I currently have a brick fireplace wall in the living room, but would like to plaster over it or even dry line the wall so i get a smooth finish which i can then paint as i dont like the look of brick in a house. It is painted currently.

The size of the wall is, 235cm High, 133.5cm wide and 10cm deep away from the other wall.

What is the best way to tackle this or should i call the pro's and how much will it cost?

Kind Regards
Ian

Hi, just done a job similar to this and charged £70, I roughed out with bonding, fixed angle beads and skimmed over. Much easier to dot and dab, however if coving is present that can create problems. Total cost for DIY: Boards 2; £10, PVA £10, Drywall £5, Beads £3, Scrim Tape £4, Boardfinish £4, plus tools you might not have got, then finally time and lastly getting it right. :?

There is no coving on it, i will probably not attempt it as have never plastered before, i will need to put something in for wires as planning to put an LCD up there and want the wires hidden.
