Fireplace Plaster Disaster
Posted: Wed Feb 06, 2008 10:24 pm
Installed our new woodburning stove today, built a fire this evening, works really well, lots of heat, house very warm.
One hour after it was up to heat all the plaster cracked and peeled off the surrounding area behind the fire.
Seems like the fire is too close to the wall (about 6 inches)
Wall was actually plastered 18 months ago during renovations and I can see the original plasterwork (French 'Crepe' finish) behind.
Can anyone recommend suitable bonding materials and or plaster to repair this area?
Also we would now like to tile or fix some stonework behind the fire to try to resolve this.
Any ideas, suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
