Mait or Silicon for Basin to furniture

Hi folks,
kinda captured it all there!

I've just put in a new basin onto new fitted furniture. I used Plumbers Mait to seat the basin onto the furniture.

I had thought that I'd be running a bead of silicon sealant around the basin for a seal, but looking at it now (tidied up a little), the mait looks fine (it's on a 'natural stone' worktop).

So, my question is, will this work/last - or should I scrape back and use sealant?

Thanks,
Heeb

Plumbers mait is non-setting, so if it's a basin set into the furniture then that'll be fine.

If it's a basin that overhangs the front of units I would use silicone. Kids may pull themselves up on it - or if you were to slip or fall then it's a natural reflex to grab something - the basin maybe ?
