I asked about expansion vessels for showers a short while ago. It seems an increasing number of new showers require them. Can anybody tell me what size would be suitable for a thermostatic shower, would you need fixings eg brackets and if possible does anyone know a specific make of vessel from any particular company?

I fit showers on a regular basis and have never needed to fit an expansion vessel yet. However, I do see that one of the Triton models does insist that one is fitted.

Frankly, due to the widely differing and varying mains supply pressures in properties, I cannot see how a vessel can be satisfactorily installed. Furthermore, as the system is not enclosed, I cannot see why one needs to be fitted. Consider also, most shower valves do not require one.

It would seem that those requiring such installation may have shortcomings.

Personally, I would avoid such showers until they become the norm (if that happens) and understand why a vessel is necessary.
