what is best way to secure a large basin with pedastal to a wall with tiles?
is it silicon the basin to the wall and raw plugs with screws?

Use a proper basin fixing kit drilling through tiles and into wall.

Silicone sealant is to seal not to provide support.

Rawl plugs and screws with washers will hold the basin to the wall. Silicone will add strength but shouldn't be relied on - silicone sealant is for making a watertight seal between the wall and basin.

If the basin has a pedestal, then using screws and silicone will be quite sufficient to fix the basin to the wall. Just don't overtighten the screws as you will crack the porcelain.
