best electric hot water system

We live in a village with no gas so our heating is electric. Our only form of heating hot water is via a hot water cylinder and immersion heater. The cylinder has now given up the ghost and needs replacing. Is there a modern system to replace this antiquated system? my wife thinks there is a system whereby hot water is heated at night and stored....and maybe we could even run a radiator or two off it? That would be great! Any advice please?
