Trap not connecting to basin waste

by Heeber » Tue Jun 24, 2008 10:33 pm

Hi folks,
strange/infuriating one here.

I bought a lever pop-up up waste from ebay, but when I came to connect the trap (standard marley 32mm bottle trap), I could not get a watertight connection.

The problem simply seems to be that there is not enough thread on the waste to screw onto (approx 15mm). So, when the nut is completely locked, there is still plenty of play in the trap and water leaks.

Any ideas!? I'm wondering if there are other trap manufacturers who may require less thread?

Thanks,
Heeb

hi
is the rubber seal in place should sit between the trap and waste out let?
might be good idea to take out the wate outlet and take along to a plumbers merchant and compare the length to similar item

This unfortunately is a common problem and really annoying as it shouldn't really happen if the basin waste is designed properly.

The only way I have found to overcome this is to cut some of the threads off the trap. Not very professional, I know, but as I say, it's the only way I have found.

PS. Don't cut off too much!!!
