Fitting a cold water storage cistern

A friend asked me recently about changing his CWSC. (His present one is a fibreglass model)At present he says there is a lot of water hammer. I believe he mentioned aTorbek ball valve. But whichever it was, it was a plastic one (part three) Should you only use the Brass valve (part two) in a CWSC?
