Roca Close Couple toilet wont fill up

Hi,

I have a Roca close couple toilet, and the other day once
I had flushed it the water did not fill back up?

Anyone have any ideas why this may be?

Also how do you open up the cistern to have a look inside.
I can not find any way of actually taking the top off as
the two flush buttons wont allow me to lift the lid up.

I have undone the two wing nuts at the bottom that hold the
cistern onto the main toilet but it wont lift up, as it looks like
the cistern is screwed into the wall! So now I am completely
stuck as I cant gain access at all.

These toilets are a nightmare, give me a standard loo anytime LOL.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have looked on the inet
but there is nothing I can find that will tell me how to do it :(

Regards

Hi solerize,
Sounds like the ball valve is stuck, also on some of the push-button types you simply unscrew the "ring" around the two buttons that then allows the cistern lid to come off.
I'd swap ball valve when off.

Hi again,

Well I got home last night and found out that my girlfriend
had already called a plumber out!

He had taken off the lid and said the problem was limescale
that had built up around a part, so he cleaned it.

All this cost me £70.50! and he did not replace any parts.

Now this morning I used the toilet and the same problem has
happened again :( the cistern will not fill up arghhhh.

I had a chat with my girlfirend and she said that the plumber said that we
would have to replace the valve etc.. if it happened again.
Why the hell did he not just replace it when he was there as now
I will have to pay again for him to come out and fix the new parts.

Unless I can work out how to do it myself and which parts I need to
get.

Steve, you said that it could be the ball valve that is stuck, do you know
of a schematic of a closed couple toilet that has all the parts listed, so I
know which part is the ball valve?.

Also do you know where I can get the replacement parts from?

Thanks in advance

Take the lid off by unscrewing the silver ring, have a look inside, you'll see which is the ball valve, its directly above the water inlet pipe and to one side of the cistern. Try spraying Cillit Bang all around the ball valve, let it soak and keep respraying, this will loosen the lime scale.

Worst senario, take the valve out and to your local plumbers merchant for a replacement.

Thanks Freeman,

I took the top off and now can see the ball valve.

I gave it a clean and it all seems to be working again.

Fingerscrossed it stays like that :D

Thanks for your help.
