Can anyone help? As explained before I have a plumbing prob with my washing machine. Is it ok for me to put a non return valve on the drainage hose?

I guess you could if you could find one to fit, but the problem is caused by the w/m pipe not being high enough to stop the water from back feeding into the w/m.
As your arrangement worked before, it stands to reason that it should still work without a non return valve.
Make sure the pipe runs from the trap right up to the underside of the worktop before leading back down to the w/m.

Yes, something like this:

Where is the washing machine waste connected ? to the trap under the sink or does it have it's own stand pipe and trap ?
If it is a stand pipe and trap - check the fall of the pipe, and check the hose doesn't go all the way down the stand pipe 6"- 8" is enough and you shouldn't get any back syphonage from this.
