Smell from shower waste

by susanne » Sat Sep 27, 2008 9:43 pm

Since fitting there has been an awful smell coming from shower waste, it does feed into the foul water pipe but there is a trap/ubend fitted. Any suggestions of what to do would be appreciated

Doesn't look like any one has answered your question. We have got the same, we have got a Matki shower tray with their fast flow waste system but I can't seem to work out why it smells all of a sudden. We never had this problem with the 'old' shower.

Hopefully somebody will kow the answer

if the trap is fitted correctly then there should be any smells at all. The trap maybe losing it's seal due to certain aspects. try and fill your shower tray and then release. The seal mayb either 25 mm or 75 mm, if its connected to the soil pipe which u say it isnt, then it wont need to be 75. However, if there is other waste pipes joined to this waste (from sink, bath etc) and it's only 25 mm then it might pull out the seal, a deeper trap would do it..
