Hot bath tap misbehaving All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

I get hot water from the downstairs kitchen tap, bathroom sink tap and shower, but not from the bath hot tap....!!!

It runs for a few seconds then dries up.

It seems to coincide with my combi boiler being serviced and /or us being away for nearly 3 weeks.

Is this a problem with tap itself and is just a coincidence?

I suspect it's just your washer sticking , you could look at our Projects in the PLUMBING SECTION changing washers . its quite an easy job it its a standard tap , hope this has been of some help to u there .

Before I dive in and tear taps apart is it the general consensus that the washer is the problem?

Just seems coincidental it happened after a boiler srvice.......!

Hi,

An easy way to test it is to turn the tap fully on then remove the tap top, now slowly and carefully undo the tap body slightly, thus raising the the whole of the tap body with the washer.

If the washer or the spindle is sticking then the water will resume it's full flow.

Do not turn it too far as the body could come off and let the water out of the top of the tap, just slightly should be enough to test it.
