Any tips to remove a shower tap handle that wont budge

Yeah, I can unscrew the nut that holds the tap handle on, but cannot remove the actual tap handle. It should just pull off, but is held tightly by either soap build up of mineral deposits. I've tried to loosen it with WD40 and lightly tapping it but so far nothing has shifted it.
Any advice?
No thoughts, no problem, I'll call a plumber

I saw a tip on another board about cleaning the corroded area with vinegar. Others responded saying that it worked. I tried it and it hasn't. I need some sort of pulling device. I think I too will have to resort to a plumber.

Thanks for the post.
Yeah, I too have tried vinegar and boiling water all without success ......... nothing would shift it. I eventually gave up and called a plumber. He had it off and had my bank account empty in seconds. When he left, I took it off myself and smeared the spindle in vaseline so hopefully next time it will come off okay. I think the real trick is to have a pully.
Thanks anyhow.
