I have a brass tap (Ideal Standard) which is stiff to open and only opens a small way so little water comes out. I can't disassemble the tap. Have removed screw in tap head but handle doesn't seem to pull off and I can't see where the tap body/cover would untwist. Have tried a wrench on body but no joy. Any advice appreciated. Photo here:

Hi

Have you had a look at the DIY Projects area at all particularly the project on "Repairing a Dripping Tap": https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/dripping_tap.htm
This may provide you with some useful info!!

Hi Robin,

The cross head should come off, TAP (lol) it upwards.
The chamfered section below wheel unscrews also to reveal the guts.

hi
why not turn of water supply to the tap, undo the retaining lock nut under the basin thats securing the tap to the basin and that way you can work on the tap better
and then when you arrive at stage why not install new taps?

That was the solution. Inside tap was very corroded. Will replace valve. Thank you for your help.
