balancing radiators with TRVs

My radiator system is microbore.

Some radiators have Honeywell TRVs

These TRVs can apparently be fitted on either inlet or return pipes.

3 of my TRVs are fitted to return pipes and these radiators all fail to heat up properly and are cool at the bottom. Presumably because water is escaping too quickly and these radiators need balancing.

The question I have is how do I balance these radiators with the TRV on the return pipe? There doesn't seem to be any adjustment to restrict flow.

thanks

you've lost me.... the TRV restricts the flow

Stands to reason that if fitted to the return pipe the TRV still needs to be adjusted to balance the radiator.

Just noticed, below the trv head the pin is surrounded by a plastic collar markerd 1-10 which can be turned down/up. Is this the flow adjustment for balancing the TRV?

hi
you can have trvs that work on the flow or return
it may be a case that your ones are not designed for this
why not swap them around and start again

if the moderator actually allows me to post - for anyone else who wants to know the trv has a restrictor adjustment below the valve head which is used to adjust balance.

Balance the system using the lockshield valves.

you need to balance the system using he lockshield valves which are the valves on the opposite end to the TRV's
