I don't know whether to post this in here, or the building section. I went for this forum as I am guessing plumbers read this one and they regularly have to do this.

I've moved my washing machine in from a lean-to that we've demolished, into the kitchen. I've plumbed the water into the washing machine and I've specced out the waste pipes to the wall. Now I need to put a hole in the outside wall to get the waste pipe out of.

Has anyone got any tips for this? I bought a 20cm drill bit. But I've got to the end of the reach of it and its taking a long time to chisel out the brickwork!!!

Hi Chris,

The waste pipe diameter is surely 40mm, so 20mm is a waste of time.
If you know some one who has a drill and correct bit, it could be sorted in errrrr minutes!!

Thanks Steve, however, I bought a 20cm drill bit (as in the length, not girth)

I have borrowed one that is about 20inches now. So I can drill through and then chisel out the hole properly. There didn't appear to be drill bits that would drill a hole with a 40mm diameter on the market...

you need A diamond tipped core bit and it would be the correct size for what you need

No you won't find a 40mm drill bit. You need a core drill.

Check put part no 62352 from the Screwfix website. You can buy them cheaper from a tool shop, but it is probably too expensive just for one hole. (And you need a good electric drill.)
