One of my radiators fitted with a lifestyle thermostat seems to be faulty.when i close it off the radiator remains hot. the thermostat has a plastic sleeve with an inner plastic cap with the numbers 0 -6 on it.

is it possible to remove the inner cap so as to manually close the thermostatic valve (I am worried about breaking it all together)

If turning the thermostat control down to zero does not shut the hot water off, it is most likely the valve may be seized / faulty and no amount of fiddling with the top part will shut the water off.

Remove the thermostat top and tap the pin in the centre of the valve lightly with a hammer. It may free it if it is seized.

Yes remove the head, push and pull the pin about 2 -3 mm to free it, add a little wd40 to the pin and tap the valve body to fee any dirt.
