No hot water - Help!

by Roz » Wed Nov 26, 2008 7:47 pm

Hi All,

I am looking for some advice about a lack of hot water. I do not have a combi boiler in the house but a timer system where i have to put the heating on to get hot water. I also have a back boiler behind the gas fire in the living room.

For some reason i cannot get any hot water. The heating comes on as normal, but there is no hot water. When we had a look at the boiler we expected it to be a broken thermostat but there didnt appear to be a thermostat in the boiler???

P.S After reading some other forums on this site - the water is not spluttering out of any taps so i do not think it is an air lock :)

Anyone have any suggestions?

All help is needed.

Thanks
Roz.

think that you have an airlock on the hot water side of your heating system (the pipes that actually heat up your hot water) probs best to get a heating engineer to take a look at it.

Hi Roz,

Check operation of your motorised valve, prolly near your pump and cylinder.

if its an old system then chances are its wil be gravity hot water, check if your pump runs when you turn on your hot water, if not it wil be gravity and you wil need to turn on hot water only and remove the t/stat from the boiler to boil out the airlock.
