Oil Boiler Won't Fire

Hi All
i have an old oil firebird boiler, the light is on the ignition button but when I hold this in and release the system makes a noise as if trying to start,the relay then drops out and nothing happens. There is oil in the system and i have bled this also checked thermal reset button.
Can any one advise
