Replacing CH header tank with a pressure vessel?

I live in a bungalow, the pipework/pump/motorised valves for the CH system are in the loft with pipes running down the walls to the rads. All has worked well for many years, but, after fitting a rad. in the conservatory, I could do to run the pump faster. the problem is, if I do, it draws air down the vent pipe, which is fitted close to the suction side of the pump. The header tank is fitted as high as possible in the loft but there is only about 1mtr head of water. Does anyone know of a possible solution to the problem? Thanks in anticipation.

You cannot change a header tank with an expansion vessel without major changes to the system.
