help my ot water has an awful chemical smell to it - any ideas?

Ideas? coil in hot water cylinder has failed: dead body in cold water tank; wasps nest fallen into cold water tank.

THANKS STONEYBOY :D THERE WAS A DEAD AND VERY ROTTEN BIRD IN THE HEADER TANK YUK YUK YUK :?
