Shower Problem

I have a Mira 88, not sure how old but at least 9 years.
I have a combi boiler system
The problem is in finding a usable temperature.
the mixer dial has to be all the way over to hot.
A tiny movement back on the dial and the shower just puts out cold water.
Sometimes it can take minutes to get an acceptable temperature.
Any ideas, please ?

shakey,
I think the mira 88 was a manual shower, try taking it apart, cleaning all internal components and resetting the spindle position.

The 88 is a manual mixer. It sounds as though the cold is just overwhelming the hot. Restriction in hot feed? Blocked filter?
Or it might just need a service kit - available from most plumbers merchants.
Alternatively it might be time to consider a thermostatic valve.

Thanks for the replies, another forum said "The problem is that the 88 was not designed for use with a combi boiler"
Is this true?

Yes you really should have a thermostatic mixer with a combi. Thats what I was hinting at in the last sentence of my pervious post.

No you need to replace the whole mixer assembly.
As to manufacturer Grohe are extremely good but there are so many out there on the market. You need to look at the right combination of price, specification and looks for your requirement. Actually in your particular case you'll probably be wanting to find one that has the same centres on the hot and cold feeds as your current one to avoid plumbing / tiling changes. That'll be your biggest challenge.
