NOISY BOILER

HI, I HAVE AN IDEAL STANDARD E-TYPE RS 2A BOILER WITH BALANCED FLUE, MANY YEARS OLD WITH PROBLEM FREE SERVICE. UNITL RECENTLY THAT IS? IT HAS STARTED MAKING NOISES SIMILAR TO A KETTLE WHEN IT HEATS UP WITH SOME CLANKING ANY SUGGESTIONS????

STILL PROVIDES DHW AND HEATING AS NORMAL. :?

It could be what is known as 'kettling' which is a build up of limescale in the boiler and pipework, as the bore of the waterways and pipes are reduced, you get this type of noise.

Could also be a faulty thermostat - if the radiators and water get much hotter than normal.
