FROZEN WASTE PIPES I cannot find a heading titled FROZEN but just having had my bath/washbasin waste pipes frozen (plastic) I found the easiest way of freeing them was with a hairdryer. Hopes this helps anyone with the same problem. To avoid it, make sure the taps don't drip.

Hi there,

another tip which often helps is to put the plug into the sink/bath when the sink/bath is not in use.

another option is prevention - lag the pipes. stopping the taps from dripping will have limited help, there is water permanently in the trap anyway. though a dripping tap should always be remedied anyway.

another alternative is to get some heating in your bathroom! must be jolly cold in there if your waste is freezing up. it could be that the freeze up is happening further down the line, where the waste exits the bathroom and into the exterior soil stack.
