Pan to waste fitting problem

Our one year old toilet had a small leak at the point the pan met the flexible waste pipe so I removed it, put some translucent silicone around the ceramic then attempted to reattach the waste pipe. The result was that the waste pipe kept popping straight off the pan. I have subsequently trimmed back the silicone, but although the waste pipe stayed on for a few minutes it continued to slide off. I have now purchased a new waste hose thinking that perhaps the rubber seal on the original was the problem. The new waste hose slides off just as the original hose did. I now have no idea how to overcome this problem. Any ideas, pleeeaase?!

Ah, yes, you've discovered the problem silicone can have.

The reason it pops off is because it is out of line and the connector you are trying to use is the wrong one or the pipe is too far out of line and the silicone is allowing it to slide off.

There are several different types of pan connector and perhaps a different style will work. You may have to use two, one plugged in to another to solve the problem.
