Hi, over the past few wks I heard what I thought was loud bass sounds from next door but it wasn't until earlier tonight I walked into my daughter's room and the noise was really loud. There are 3 pipes running down the wall. I know the outside 2 are hot and cold water pipes the 'hamer' when the waters been turned on and off but the middle 1 is a mystery and this is the 1 that's causing the 'bass' sound. It's psyically moving and I'm not sure of the cause. Can anyone suggest some solutions that don't require any plumbing knowladge please.

hi chrissie,

it sounds like the washer needs changing on a ball valve. its a common problem and easily solved.

firstly try and ascertain whether it comes from the ball valve in the toilet by flushing and listening for the noise also feel the cold water pipe as it enters the cistern to check for vibrations.

this is the most common cause and you can get a replacement washer for a few pence.

if its not the w/c it will be a ball valve in a cistern possibly in the loft.

hope this helps
