My shower (Aqualisa) has low water pressure. It is situated above the bath on the same level as the hot water cylinder in an adjacent bedroom. Two plumbers have suggested placing a pump next to the cylinder. A third has suggested raising the cold water header tank from its position on the rafters in the roof just above the cylinder to a point nearer the apex of the pitched roof on the basis that this will increase the pressure of cold water entering the cylinder and consequently the pressuer of the hot water leaving the cylinder. Which solution would be the more effective?

If you were to buy a pump, by law you must advise the local water authority and they will insist that you have a water meter.
Pumps are very expensive.
If you build a platform in the roof, make sure it is not so high that you cannot see inside and tend the ball valve, change its washer.
A half inch/15mm water pipe direct from the cold water tank to the shower will provide an adequate shower. (provided there are not too many bends in the run)
A 3/4 inch/22mm pipe from cold water tank to shower will do a better job.
Presumably you have an inch pipe from the cold tank to the hot tank?
