We have recently started having problems with our cold water taps. When we turn them on (and it can be any-bathroom or kitchen) there is a loud sort of vibrating noise coming from somewhere. It has also started to happen when using the washing machine (cold feed)

I have also noticed that sometimes when the cold water tap upstairs is turned on then a trickle of water comes out of the cold water tap.

Any solutions to the problem would be much apprecited

hi i often come across vibrating pipe noises were the cold feed enters the wc,this is usally caused by blockages from limescale in side the orifice which allows the cistern to fill,pipes can vibrate due to mains pressure been to high this also strains washers and glands in taps and valves,mains pressure can be tested via any cold outlet,and reduced with a pressure reducing valve, although to have a trickle of water upstairs could be build up of limescale in the rising main,this would cause vibration in the pipe when any cold outlet is opened.a good indication is to have a look in your kettle for white furing around the wall inside, blocked pipes should be removed and replaced with new ones with inline scale reducers fitted for futre protection.
