Do all new kitchen monobloc mixers come with copper tails?

Our kitchen mixer tap is on its very last legs so I'm looking at new ones.
But it seems that a lot of the new contemporary monobloc taps use copper tails - what is the purpose of having copper tails? is it for supporting the weight of the tap? Our current tap has flexi hoses.
We're thinking of tackling this project ourselves, but not keen on going down that route, if copper tails are involved - in case of having to trim etc etc.
Do all of the new monobloc mixers require copper tails? Or do they come with flexi hoses as standard?
Hope someone can clarify this for me, as I can't seem to find the info online. Cheers!

apcmoomin,
The taps can come with either or both solid and flexible.
You can buy flexibles with the correct thread but be careful you don't buy with a tap with one left hand thread and one right hand thread - sourcing flexibles for these is almost impossible.
