Hi,

Hopefully you guys can offer a bit of advice.

The cladding burst on my cold water tank and I inadvertantly managed to drop some fibrelass into the tank. I did manage to get most of it out but some of it dispersed into the water which has now gone murky!

My concern is that this tank feeds the hot water supply, will I damage the system (or me when washing) by letting the system clear itself? Should I drain the tank?

You have probably sorted the problem by now, but I will answer it anyway.

Depending how much insulation is in the tank, it could be sufficient to block a pipe. Possibly more important is the fact that insulation is an irritant and it is not a good idea to be washing in it and definitely not cleaning your teeth with it.

For safety sake, get a hosepipe and syphon all the contents of the tank including the gunk you stirred up fishing the insulation out. It is a good idea to do this occasionally anyway as the silt that builds up in the tank over time is somewhat unpleasant.
