Cold water supply isolator calve

I have an outside tap that is linked to the kitchen supply. Our old washing machine broke and I decided to replace it with a dryer/washer. I switched off the cold water using the tap on the isolator, removed the old washer, hooked up the new washer and switched the cold water back on. The new washer works fine but since installing it the outside tap has stopped working. Most plumbing is beyond me but even I thought I could swap a washing machine over without messing things up; obviously not!

I have removed the new washer and tested the outside tap and it works fine. It seems as if the flow to the tap is failing to reach it even if the washing machine is off.

Any ideas on what has gone wrong?

Hi. If all you've done is to disconnect one machine, and connect another, then this problem makes no sense.
Question - what is the valve you've described as the isolator, and is it a washing machine valve that the hose connects to, or is it somewhere else in the pipework ?

Perhaps a photo would help, if you can post one.
