Hi, newbi here so apologies if this subject has been covered before. Just had an extension built (kitchen and downstairs shower/loo) and thought I would install central heating at the same time throughout my 2 bed cottage(currently storage heaters.) My builder quoted me 7900 for boiler, 8 rads, and putting concrete base in for oil tank. That seems a bit high. Any recommendations of usual cost ? Or does that seem right - this does not include VAT.
cheers

Give me a call i do it for half that price :D
Seriously overpriced for my area, south of scotland, that looks like a south of england price. I would suggest you check the OFTEC website for a registered technician in your area and get some quotes from them. If you live in England the builder will need to pay them to do it so go direct and cut out the outrageous mark up. Depending on location and any special reqs i would expect around £4500-£5000 fully installed and commissioned

I thought it was overpriced - my builder has over-charged me on everything ...sighs...
while i am on the subject - what would you expect to pay for removing a wall and putting an rsj in ? It rests on small pier of bricks.
cheers

hi sandra I'm not a builder but i removed a wall 4mts long [11" cavity red brick] and fitted catnic lintel £180.00 plus a little cement/sand £5.00 in a day i then had to remove a skip load of rubble £90.00 plus 2 hours loading, plus i employed a labourer for 6hrs does this help? john
