removing silicone sealant

by doneg » Tue Aug 07, 2007 2:45 pm

I have installed a new bath. I fitted the bath plughole fittings and used silicone seal. Due to a slight leak I removed the fitting and want to refit it but can not remove the old silicone sealant from it - any ideas how I can do this?

Remove as much of the silicone as possible, and buy some silicone sealant remover will probably cost around £5. You should get it at any DIY store, will be next to silicone sealant tubes.

I've never used it but have heard about it, then clean with methylated spirit before re-sealing.
