Removing Thermostatic Cartridge in Shires Thermostatic Shower All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

I have a Shires thermostatic shower. I need to remove the thermostatic cartridge for descalling or perhaps replacement.

I have removed trim, isolated water supply and removed the plastic temperature limit disc.

So far so good.

However, when I try to unscrew the cartridge I seem to be removing the centre of the cartridge rather than the whole cartridge itself. I can't figure out how to get the whole cartridge out as a whole piece. There isn't a grub screw in this unit...

Any tips would be very much appreciated.

Wondering did you have any success removing the cartridge? I've just had the same problem. Centre part moves rather than entire cartridge...

What was the solution??

Hi I am having the same problem with removal of shower valve, centre only coming out, was there a solution to this?
