Leak Where Water Dripping Through Smoke Alarm

Hi All. I'm
Looking for some advice. I noticed a water leak at the bottom of my stairs. Water was dripping slowly through my smoke alarm and there was a water patch on the ceiling. A well known company came out and said that my water tank in my airing cupboard was corroded and needed replacing but that there wasn't much water leaking out and that they felt that the issue was to do with pipe work or cold mains supply. They called out another company who specialise in leaks and plumbing. They said that they couldn't detect any leaks and we're sure it was the tank. The tank was drained and isolated until the new tank arrived and the patch on the ceiling started to dry up. The new tank was replaced yesterday and I thought all was good ... Until this morning! The leak is back, the ceiling is wet again. It can't be the tank now because it has been replaced. I can actually hear a constant drip falling on to the ceiling in the hallway from somewhere above. When the cold water supply is turned off the drip seems to stop. The company are coming back again today but this issue has been looked at many times (every time they said it was the tank but it can't be) and we just seem to be getting nowhere! Can anyone suggest what it might be please. Sorry for long post but wanted to give you all of the info! Thanks in advance!
