Pressure Relief Valve Needed After Removing Header Tank?

I am removing a header tank that supplies water to a kitchen hot water cylinder and cold tap supply. I am linking the outlet of the tank to the main.
There is a hot water feed pipe running back from the cylinder that is open above the tank. I presume that this is for expansion. I need to fit some sort of a pressure relief valve to the end of this pipe or can I just blank it off? If I need a valve what type would I use?
Thanks
