Can anyone help because its driving me crazy. I have had no problems with my cold water supply but ever since turning off the water mains at the stop cock to repair a leaking compression fitting now every time you turn the cold water tap off suddenly or the toilet cistern fills up there is a banging sound through the house. Any ideas for cures?
Thank you

Have you opened the stop tap more than previously ? the pressure may be abit too high, try closing the stop tap abit to see if the banging stops.
if this doesn't work, did you remove any pipe clips ? clipping pipes will stop them banging

I did open the stop tap fully and you're right the pressure was high so i closed it until banging sound was very faint however, the pressure became low and just by flushing the toilet with the shower running the shower would trickle until the toilet cistern filled up.
I have'nt removed any clips at all. It was just a quick 15mm compression fitting change.
I'm stumped to how i can get rid of the banging.
