Air Locks in Heating System After Refurb

Hello folks

We've just had a heating system refurb, which included a new HW tank, pump and related pipework. We haven't yet replaced the rads or piping, nor our boiler, but we have had the system pressurised. We've drained the system a few times recently, to add a few new radiators and it seems very prone to air locks, which are proving extremely difficult to remove.

We have moved the HW tank from the first floor airing cupboard to the ground floor utility room and I just noticed that the pump is mounted upside down and is pumping water from the first floor down to the ground floor. I would think this wouldn't help with clearing air from the system, since it would be trying to pump air downwards.

Is it a problem to install these pumps upside down in this way? Has anyone experience of this?

See photo.

Thanks in anticipation.
