Connecting to Electric Shower Inlet Pipe

by Hubby52 » Fri May 31, 2019 1:19 pm

I am changing a Triton Electric shower same model dimensions etc. The original was fixed to the wall and tiled up to but I will be removing the old one and tiling behind leaving space for access to the rear entry compression fitting and electrics that are already there. The electrical side is no problem but when removing the old shower unit, the existing Olive and compression nut will be removed with it. Can a plumber please confirm that when fitting a new compression nut onto the plastic inlet valve that a copper Olive is best to be used rather than brass. Also someone mentioned to add a little smear of Vaseline on the top of the Olive. Is this needed or correct?
