Kitchen Mixer Tap with Spray Hose - Only Hot when Spray Hose detatched

Dear Internet,
I have recently fitted a new tap to our kitchen with a "nice" spray hose attachment. All working as a tap normally should on both hot and cold but as soon as I add the spray hose attatchment the hot tap does not work - it cools down to cold and that's it!
