Bath Mixer Tap Broken and Using Stopper

Hi All, I have a mixer tap in the bathroom that when the handle/leaver to the left the water comes from the tap while moving the handle to the right you would except the water to shift to the shower. https://www.bristan.com/products/Bathroom-Taps?code=R%20TBSM%20C
However when the handle is right I get water from both directions which reduces the pressure for the shower (and this is not meant to be).
Since now I cannot call anyone to fix this I thought to put a stopper to the lower part so it won’t come out from there. But I would like to know if this is not going to make damage to the tap and generally if this is a good idea.
If so how do I do that :).
Thank you in advance for any tip to reinstall water pressure to my shower,
Mic

Hi botmic,
The lever controls a very simple valve, have you checked the lever is firmly fixed on its shaft?
If yes try operating it a number of times and see if this improves things. There is no way to bung up the tap outlet.
