Combi system drain for expansion tank test.

I have had a rad removed and replaced with a plumbed in Pynth heater during a kitchen refit. During the work the Expansion vessel on my Combi system (Halstead finest gold boiler) was checked for pressure with the system still full of water and I suspect some air was lost from the vessel during this.
The heating system works but only on the lowest boiler setting as any higher setting causes the pressure to rise to 3bar and trips the relief valve.
How do you drain the system properly so I can get a true Expansion vessel pressure reading, and what is the procedure for refilling?
