Faulty Drayton MA1 3-way actuator?

Hi all,
New member here (and a novice!) but I have a temperamental problem with my Drayton MA1 3-way actuator (at least I think its the actuator which is at fault).
It has recently started sticking on the W (hot water) when the heating is meant come on. I need to lift the actuator off the valve for it to switch over to H (Central Heating). Once it switches back to W I place it back on the valve and it then works (switches freely between W and H) and all is fine, but then after a while the same problem occurs and I have the run the manual process again.
Is the actuator faulty (which I think I should be able to change myself) or does the valve need replacing? The actuator has also become rather noisy (and gets very hot). FYI, I am able to turn the spindle on the valve freely by hand.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
