Water splashes up from floor when flushing toilet!

Hello all, hoping you can give me a bit of advice on a plumbing problem I've got.

In the last few days, we've noticed that whenever we flush our toilet, it's started making a gurgling noise for a few seconds at the end. We've also just spotted that at the same time as the gurgle, some water is splashing up out of the floor behind the toilet. You can see it in this 3-second video clip:

Any suggestions as to what might be going on here, and what I should be doing about it?

After doing some googling, I suspect I might have a blocked vent stack, because:
- the drains definitely aren't blocked; water's draining just fine
- we had a bad smell in our house the other day, which implies the stinky fumes aren't getting out through the vent like they ought to

...but I'd value the opinion of someone who knows more than I do!

Thanks

Hi noithattlivip
A lot will depend on how far away your toilet connection is from the vent stack. If it’s straight into the vent stack then you need to check the stack. I suspect your toilet is some way from the stack and you have a blockage in the connecting pipe. You will have to get the toilet removed and the connection at the back made good - even if there is a blockage soil water should never be bubbling up as in your video.

IT is your Main Line, you need to get it cleaned. Look for a drain cleaning specialist.
